Rio Negro City Hall Showcases Municipal Potential to a Luxembourg Delegation
Rio Negro City Hall, through its Departments of Administration and of Industry and Commerce, is in constant contact with the Association of Luxembourgish Citizens in Brazil (ACLUX) to foster an institutional relationship between the entities involved.
The objective is to showcase the municipality's potential in order to attract new investments and projects, as well as to value and preserve the rich history and culture found within the municipality. Rio Negro was strongly influenced by Luxembourgish immigration, having welcomed four distinct families—the Bleys, Greins, Krausses, and Stressers—who successfully undertook the transatlantic crossing and the arduous journey through the Serra do Mar mountain range and the Rio Negro hinterland to help build the municipality.
This Thursday and Friday, the municipality of Rio Negro is hosting a visit from Mr. Daniel Atz, a dual American-Luxembourgish citizen and international trade specialist fluent in English, French, Chinese, and Portuguese. He is the founder of LuxCitizenship, a New York-based organization that, through ancestry analysis, assists Americans in reclaiming their Luxembourgish citizenship.

Through the company, more than 1,500 American citizens have already reclaimed their citizenship. One of LuxCitizenship's areas of expertise involves conducting research into the profiles of dual Luxembourgish citizens, both in the United States and in Brazil.
Prior to founding LuxCitizenship, Daniel worked at BelCham—the Belgian-American Chamber of Commerce—helping 213 startups from Belgium, Luxembourg, and across Europe enter the American market. Daniel also developed the Benelux Catalyst, a public-private international business acceleration program funded by the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy.
Daniel is currently in Brazil to continue his research and to gain a deeper understanding of the Luxembourgish community, as well as the demands and challenges facing it from cultural, institutional, and economic perspectives. Additionally, in collaboration with Luxembourg’s national TV broadcaster, RTL, interviews will be conducted with Brazilians and Argentines who have obtained Luxembourgish citizenship.
In Rio Negro, the program began on Thursday with an ACLUX meeting at the Antônio Cândido do Amaral Cinema-Theater for the presentation and discussion of the concerns of Luxembourgish citizens.
This Friday, the day's activities began at 9:00 AM with a reception hosted by Mayor James Karson Valério and other officials. Subsequently, the delegation took part in a guided tour of the São Luís de Tolosa Ecotourism Park and the University of Contestado (UnC) in Mafra. After lunch, there will be an interview with the local press, followed by visits to a business owned by a Luxembourgish descendant (Riverplast) and to local shops.
